Central to any modern parking deployment is the move from labour intensive, paper-based permits to digital, or electronic, systems.

More and more local authorities are also moving from permit services that operate only during office hours to 100% customer self-service accounts that can be accessed at any time of the day. Chipside's Managing Director, Paul Moorby, says: "In the UK, residents are often granted permission to buy a set number of visitor permits along with their own resident permit. Digital permit systems, such as MiPermit, can be configured to enable customers to purchase any number of permits to a limit set by local policy."

Digital permits can be self-administered by the resident, who can update visitor vehicle registration numbers online. This update is then immediately available to the law enforcement officers' mobile devices, enabling them to prevent any infringement of the scheme's rules.

MiPermit is available online and via smartphone app. Clients can also provide residents with friendly, human assistance via Chipside's UK-based, dedicated telephone call centre team.
