Chipside sponsors the British Parking Awards
By Paul Moorby, Chipside CEO
I am thrilled to announce MiPermit is the headline sponsor for this year’s British Parking Awards. Created and presented by Parking Review magazine, the British Parking Awards event gives myself, Chipside and other companies the chance to network, connect and learn from those that have excelled in parking management, design and innovation in the last 12 months.
Celebrating British parking innovation
Now in its 18th year, the awards recognise excellence and achievement in the British parking industry. While I have been travelling a lot in the last few months and meeting innovative companies from across the globe, I continue to be impressed by the UK’s innovative talent. This year’s awards encompass innovative technologies and green thinking – something I am particularly passionate about.
A digital focus
Smart cities initiatives have provided the catalyst for urban communities to become more resilient, responsive and sustainable over the last year. With transport digitisation considered the next step in smart city adoption, streamlining public parking services will help local authorities manage growth and expansion and turn cost into profit.
I recently caught up with Richard Walker, Parking Partnership Group Manager at Colchester City Council, who told me working with MiPermit has immediately saved the council more than £40,000 in stationery costs alone. By reducing the number of people focussed on dealing with parking issues within their transport department, Colchester has moved from losing more than half a million pounds a year on parking to generating a surplus reserve of one million pounds on the operation.
An innovative future
The last 12 months have been full of change for the British parking industry. Customer behaviours are modernising, while services such as mobile and cashless parking are growing in popularity. I am thrilled to be sponsoring an event that recognises the innovative work of British companies working to manage and deliver essential services that meet public needs.
Winners of the British Parking Awards will be revealed by comedian and author Shappi Khorsandi at an awards ceremony that takes place following a 4-star gala lunch held in London on 8 March.
