Chipside contributes to smart cities debate at WCIT

A team from Chipside is heading to the annual World Congress on Information Technology in Yerevan, Armenia next week, from 6-9 October.

Paul Moorby, Chipside’s CEO, will join more than 2000 technology industry leaders, government officials and academics from 70 countries across the world to address ‘The Power of Decentralization: Promise and Peril’.   Essentially the Congress will explore how information and communications technology is transforming and impacting our lives, for better or worse.

While discussion topics are as diverse as artificial intelligence to climate change, Paul’s primary focus will be on smart cities and how to build these most successfully.  A crucial element of smart city infrastructure is managing transport and parking effectively, including easing traffic congestion and flow.  Chipside works with 130 councils in the UK using digital platforms to improve traffic management, including through its MiPermit cashless parking and permit application, so Paul has plenty of experience to bring to the table.

WCIT is a prime opportunity for industry leaders and experts to share different experiences on key technology issues, including smart city development.  WCIT is the key event for the World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA), a consortium of ICT associations that represent 90% of the overall industry.  With this comes a very high calibre of knowledge and presents a huge opportunity to learn and shape many global ICT issues.
